IGELIGE JOINS LINE UP OF SPEAKERS FOR INTERNATIONAL FILM ADMINISTRATION CONFERENCE IN LAGOS

Foremost intellectual property lawyer, Rockson Igelige is amongst a lineup of speakers unveiled for the International Film Administration Conference scheduled to hold virtually on June 17.

The conference, themed “The Film Ecosystem, the Digital Age and the Transformative Power of Administration,” is being convened in honour of veteran Nollywood administrator and advocate, Madu C. Chikwendu, who turns 58 on June 17.

Keynote address will be delivered by Prof. Osakue Omoera, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Federal University, Otuoke, Bayelsa State, and President of the Film Educators Guild of Nigeria, while Brig.-Gen. K.A. Vigo will chair the event.

The conference will bring together regulators, filmmakers, scholars and industry practitioners to examine emerging challenges and opportunities in film administration in the digital era.

Other speakers include ED, National Film and Video Censors Board, Dr Shaibu Husseini, MD/CE, Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) and iconic Kannywood Actor, and Dr Ali Nuhu, DG Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC), Dr John Asein.

Also on the lineup are former FEPACI Executive Director, Nairobi, (Kenya), Madam Nyeri Murago-Munene, Deputy Secretary General, Confederation of African Audiovisual Professionals (CAAP), (Ghana), Madam Akofa Edjeani, Veteran Pan Africanist, Actor and Filmmaker, (Zimbabwe), Stephen Chigorimbo, amongst others.

Convener of the conference, Prof. Amanze Akpuda of Abia State University, Uturu, said the speakers were drawn from key segments of the film industry to provide a rich resource base for scholars, practitioners and other stakeholders.

The event will also feature the unveiling of two books by Chikwendu, "The Political Aesthetics of Nollywood: Histories, Ideologies and Cultural Narratives" and "Cinema, Soft Power and Neocolonialism: A Reimagination," ahead of their Sept. 11, 2026 release by Robert Williams and Company.
